Testing Dog Treat Recipes

So in the last 2 days I decided to try out some Dog Treat recipes. Two of the treats are frozen treats & one is a baked biscuit. To see my process checkout my YouTube video HERE! So let’s just jump straight in!

Homemade Peanut Butter Bacon Dog Treats

This recipe is from Sally’s Baking Addiction and you can find it HERE!

Pros
So out of the 3 recipes this is the only one that Roxy actually likes! So it must be tasty, so that’s one pro to this recipe.

It was also fairly easy to find the ingredients for this one. I live in a small rural town, so it’s difficult to find specialty items for some recipes. However, this one I was able to grab Skim Milk in place of the Nonfat Milk in the recipe & Wholemeal Plain Flour for Whole Wheat Flour. The only issue was the Natural Peanut Butter as I quite simply didn’t know that exists and our local grocery store definitely doesn’t sell it. I did look up Natural Peanut Butter on Woolworths afterwards and it does exist.

Cons
This one wasn’t the easiest to make. The dough was dry and very crumbly, so it was very difficult to add the Oats & Bacon to the dough. I ended up adding some more milk to help with the dryness of the dough.

It also makes soo much mixture. If I was to make these again I would definitely half the recipe as I ended up for near 4 full trays of biscuits which is a lot. It’s not the worst as Roxy enjoys them, but if she had of disliked them then thats a hell of a lot of biscuits to throw out.

Overall
While Roxy did enjoy this one I don’t think I’ll be making it again just because the dough was such a pain to deal with.

Watermelon Pupsicles

This Recipe is from Crafty Morning and you can find it HERE!

Pros
This one was simple & easy to make. My only issue with the recipe was that it didn’t all fit in my Ninja Bullet, but thats not the recipes fault.

Cons
Well the main issue is that Roxy doesn’t like it. Based on the recipes I’ve tried with her I don’t think Roxy likes Greek Yogurt. So I will be trying out a recipe another time without it to see if that helps.

Another issue I had was that I couldn’t buy a NonFat Greek Yogurt at my grocery store, so I had to use a Plain Greek Yogurt instead.

Overall
This one is a easy recipe as long as your doggo enjoys it!

Frozen Apple Dog Treats

This recipe is from Irresistible Pets and you can find it HERE!

My pros and cons with this one are exactly the same as the other Frozen treat. Roxy doesn’t enjoy them, I couldn’t find the correct yogurt but it was an easy simply recipe to follow.

Have you tried any DIY Dog Treat recipes? Did you doggie enjoy them?
